In the mid 1970's, Mr. Richard Johnson founded the FFA (= Free for All) as a SIG (= Special Interest Group) of the GLAAM (= Greater Los Angeles Area Mensa). Shortly thereafter, he withdrew it from Mensa and opened the membership to anyone. Mr. Johnson continues as our Administrator. At present, the membership exceeds one hundred families.
The members of FFA provide designated services to each other, without any charge. It is expected, however, that the recipient will reimburse any out-of-pocket expenses: transportation, telephone calls, materials, etc.
My listing, for instance, says, "Provides: [1] instruction in math, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology, and electronic engineering; [2] companionship for walks or bicycling; [3] detailed guidance for members wishing to join the Internet or to create a WWW home page."
Recently (late July 2001), FFA constructed its own WWW Web page. The Administrator's e-mail address is shown therein..
