Societies

I have several memberships that have lapsed; because I cannot afford the dues. By now, they probably have forgotten that I exist!

Societies, in lexicographical order:

  1. AAPT = American Association of Physics Teachers. It is a member society of the AIP = American Institute of Physics
  2. ADPA = American Defense Preparedness Association. Also known as the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA).
  3. ACM = Association for Computing Machinery
  4. ASA = Acoustical Society of America. It is a member society of the AIP = American Institute of Physics
  5. AZA = American Zoo and Aquarium Association
  6. IBEW = International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of the AFL = American Federation of Labor. I am a member in good standing, but inactive.
  7. LP = Libertarian Party of California.  I no longer am active; however, they continue to send me an occasional e-mail.
  8. MAA = Mathematical Association of America
  9. NFLPA = National Free Lance Photographers' Association: POBox 406, Solebury, PA 18963 USA.. They are "presently inactive" and no link is to be found for them.
  10. NYAS = New York [City] Academy of Sciences.
  11. Planetary Society ... we dream of a manned outpost on Mars.
  12. Sigma Pi Sigma, a Physics honor society. Founded independently, it became a member society of the AIP = American Institute of Physics. Then, Sigma Pi Sigma had gone out of existence; but, has been reactivated recently.
  13. Smithsonian.
  14. Wild Beast Society == the premier support organization for our municipal Zoo -- both a zoological and botanical garden.  I had photographed and described most of our animals.  Regrettably, my hard-disk drive crashed, before I could arrange the current hosting.  My very good friend, Deb, has managed to resurrect some of this work.  My present work-schedule precludes the frivolous luxury of the pleasure of walking and photographing in the zoo.  Thus, I have to be satisfied with the vicarious ZooNet.

Early Education

I was born on Highland Avenue in Highland Park, (Wayne County,) Michigan, USA; at 1435 EST (= Eastern Standard Time), which is 1935 UTC, on Wednesday the 29-th of December 1926. I have been learning from at least that time. This date makes me a Capricorn. This location makes me a US Citizen, by birth. I never have been outside of the Continental United States. On the other hand, by the laws of both Russia and Poland, I inherit the Russian and Polish citizenships from my parents. Thus, I have a triple citizenship.

Higher Education

For anyone who desires to see the actual details, a copy of each of the transcripts is available, upon request.  Warning:  these scanned files are huge.  We provide a summary here.

Employment and Business

A new-fangled Capacity Matrix.

I have engaged in various interesting activities. I have Attempted to earn a living at the same time.

I have written several articles and many letters-to-the-editor. Also, I have various patents. As an Employee, those patents belonged to (and were named by and registered in the name of) my Employer (or his assignee, whose name would be unknown to us). Furthermore, we would not have been informed if the final assignee actually followed through to obtaining the patent. Thus, they are almost impossible to trace, at this time. I only am guessing as to their exact amounts.

Employment (and business) history:

On 01-st August 2001, temporarily transferred to the Photo-graphics Department of the Natural Sciences Division, to help teach Computer Graphics.  We have a new name for this set of classes:  "Visual Media Institute".  It is a very exciting two-campus endeavor by the six of us.  On 19-th February 2002, back to the Computer Laboratory, which now has been moved to the Biology Department.  On 01-st August 2003, transferred to the Math Lab of the Mathematics Department.

Shareware program to perform six-way analysis of variance, with the supporting database.  Author of a the Textbook of Plane and Spherical Trigonometry and Geometry. (It is the only in-print textbook of Spherical Trigonometry; the last prior textbook having been published in 1934.)  Author of the Textbook of Linear Algebra, in which I develop my original proof of the existence, uniqueness, and constructive algorithm for the factorization of a general real or complex matrix A into a bra <, spectrum D, and ket >, as A = < D >.  This factorization was proposed and named, in the mid 1940s, by P. A. M. Dirac.  However, neither he nor anyone else ever has succeeded in accomplishing this factorization.  This factorization is a generalization from the concept of eigenvalue-eigenvector (eigenpair), as applied to symmetric matrices, already for two centuries.  Also original are the analysis of a channel and multi-dimensional linear-regression; because, each requires the aforementioned factorization of a general real matrix.  Likewise, the axis of rotation of either an ortho-normal or an unitary matrix is original.  Developed a shareware C-program corresponding to the aforementioned Textbook of Linear Algebra.
I have had the dubious honor of being my own Webmaster of this site, since its inception on the 31-st of August 1995.

Help with the statistical design of behavioral observational experiments, gathering of data, and the statistical analyzes. Wrote a computer program to facilitate the analysis of variance.
  24. Member of the Friends of the Faire at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, in Devore, California. May 1998-current.  In April 1999, accepted as a Participant, in the role of Peasant.  In July 2000, promoted to Scholar, with the thesis Astrolabium.  "Meet and Greet" in front of the Faire, Italian court "Dancing with the Nobles" (See how useful my fourth-grade education was?), "Circles of Celebration" and "Rabble Rousers" at the Queen's Joust.  Sayings: Mathematics is the queen of the sciences.  Any technology, sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic (Arthur C. Clark).  Physics (including Cosmology), Chemistry (including Crystallography), or Computer Science, sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from Mathematics.
Beginning with the 2005 season, the venue has been moved to the Santa Fe Dam, in Irvindale, California.  I am posting these two montages -- R1 and R2 -- of portraits of myself, with the kind permission of my good friend, Allen de Rico, who is the copyright (c) 2005 holder.  Do you not agree that he is an excellent photographer?  During the 2006 season, I also was a member of the Construction Crew and the Circles of Celebration.  On Sunday the 20th of May 2006, I was knighted by her Majesty.
  25. Expert of Science --> Mathematics --> other (mathematics) at AskMe 19-III-2000 through 31-X-2002 (which is the last day that AskMe remained functional), under the name rism.  Whereupon, for a short time, I moved to Education & Science --> Mathematics at WeTellYou, under the same name rism.  But, it was not the same; hence, I quit.

Hey! I need money. Retain me!!!! My US Social Security number is ???-??-???? ("not to be used for identification").  I have removed the actual number, out of respect to my many friends who expressed their (misplaced) concern.  However, the SSN never had been intended for identification and it never has been secure -- anybody who wants to do so can obtain anybody else's SSN easily and with impunity, regardless of her/his motives.  If you want to obtain my SSN from me; please send me a signed e-mail, with your public key.  Then, I will send a signed encrypted copy of my SSN to you.  If you want to obtain my SSN from elsewhere; I have no way of preventing your doing so  Neither do I have any way of knowing that you did so or who you are.  Besides, the SSN is passé -- now that we have secure digital ID available.  Please ask for my public key or obtain it yourself from VeriSign.
